2025 Annual Awards Banquet

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

The Honorable Dan R. Brouillette is an accomplished leader in energy, finance, business strategy, and government policy, with a remarkable career spanning both the private and public sectors.

As President of Sempra Infrastructure (SI), a subsidiary of Sempra Energy in San Diego, Brouillette played a pivotal role in transforming the company from a regional LNG operator to a multinational energy powerhouse with operations in North America and Asia. SI achieved significant milestones during his tenure, including a $13 billion final investment decision for its Port Arthur LNG project. Upon completion, it will rank among the largest LNG export facilities in the United States, serving customers throughout Europe. His strategic oversight of large-scale capital projects and adept navigation of complex financial and geopolitical challenges were instrumental in positioning Sempra as a major force in global energy markets.

Brouillette served as the 15th United States Secretary of Energy, where he spearheaded national energy policy and championed groundbreaking advancements in nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and energy storage. Nominated by President Donald J. Trump, he is the only person ever to be confirmed by the US Senate to serve as both Deputy Secretary and Secretary of Energy. Under his leadership the Department of Energy developed the two fastest supercomputers in the world. He has been widely recognized for his role in helping stabilize global oil markets during the COVID-19 pandemic and for facilitating the first-ever ministerial-level energy meetings between Israel and key Middle Eastern nations. For his achievements as the nation’s top energy official, Brouillette received Distinguished Public Service Medals from both the US Secretary of Defense and the US Secretary of State, the highest individual honor that can be awarded by either department.

Prior the joining the Energy Department, Secretary Brouillette held senior executive and corporate officer roles at Ford Motor Company and USAA. A Louisiana native, he earned an MBA from Tulane University, a Master of Arts in National Security and Intelligence from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, and holds a post-graduate certificate in Cybersecurity from the University of Texas at Austin. He served as a tank commander in the U.S. Army’s 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and as a guest lecturer at the U.S. Army War College. Currently, he is a senior energy advisor to the recently announced $500 billion ‘Stargate’ project led by SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle, and also serves as a visiting scholar and Executive-in-Residence at Tulane and the KBH Energy Institute at the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business.
